Frequently asked questions

All the important answers, in one place

Everything families ask us about personal alarms, from set-up and coverage to what happens the moment the button is pressed.

Rather talk it through?

Call us on 0300 303 2682, Monday to Friday, 9am to 5pm, and we'll answer anything.

What happens when I press the alarm?

Press your pendant or alarm button and you are connected to our monitoring team within seconds, day or night. They can see who you are, speak to you through the unit, and arrange the right help, whether that's calling a family member, a neighbour with a key, or, where our local response teams operate, sending a trained responder. Check your postcode to see exactly what's available at your address.

Do I need Wi-Fi or a landline for a Carecall247 alarm?

No. You don't need Wi-Fi or a landline. All our alarms are digital and connect over the mobile network using their own built-in SIM, so they work straight out of the box.

How quickly can I get set up?

Setup is quick and simple. Your alarm arrives ready to use with clear, large-print instructions, and most families have it working within a few minutes of plugging it in. If you'd rather we talk you through it, just call and we'll stay on the line.

Can I arrange an alarm for my parent or loved one, even if I don't live nearby?

Yes. Many people set up an alarm for a parent or relative. You can arrange everything on their behalf and we'll deliver it straight to their home. We currently provide the service in our covered areas in England, so it's worth using the postcode checker to confirm what's available at their address first. You'll create the account when you place the order, and we'll add you as an emergency contact so we can reach you if the alarm is ever pressed.

What if I press my alarm by mistake?

Please don't worry. Accidental presses are completely normal and nothing to feel embarrassed about, around 4 in 10 of the calls we take are false alarms. We're always glad to hear from you, and a mistaken press is a good reminder that your alarm is working. We'll simply check you're okay and let you get back to your day.

Will my personal alarm work outside in the garden?

Yes. Our alarms are designed to work around the home and garden, covering areas like the driveway, patio and shed. The exact range depends on the layout of your property, and we'll help you check it once your alarm arrives.

What's the difference between a personal alarm and a fall detector?

A personal alarm calls for help when you press the button. A fall detector does that too, and also raises an alert automatically if it senses a fall, even if you're unable to press the button yourself. Both connect you straight to our 24/7 monitoring team.

Is the Carecall247 service available 24/7?

Yes. Our monitoring team is here 24 hours a day, 365 days a year, including nights, weekends and bank holidays. There's always a real person ready to answer.

How much does a Carecall247 alarm cost?

Our alarms are billed monthly, with a one-off setup fee and no long-term contract. You can see current prices and what's included on the Monitoring Only Plan and Monitoring and Response Plan pages. There are no hidden fees.

Can I cancel at any time?

Yes. Our plans are rolling and billed monthly, so you can cancel at any time. There's no long-term contract and no cancellation fee.

What if I have other questions or need help choosing?

We're happy to help you choose. Call our friendly team on 0300 303 2682, Monday to Friday, 9am to 5pm, or send us a message and we'll talk you through the options with no pressure.
